Definition of our project
1) How we explored the subject?
Here links to some mindmaps we did in order to explore the subject:
2) Context
- When? There are so many destinations to choose from when deciding where
to study abroad that it can often be an overwhelming choice. It can be
more efficient to narrow down the type of location that interests and
suits you the most. You can’t find anything if you don’t know what you
are looking for. You cannot research all the schools in the world. This
quiz would be useful in setting up criteria to limit your search so you
can create a manageable shortlist of schools that you can research more
thoroughly. And instead of having students do extensive research on
shortlisted schools, the quiz would generate the rankings to save
students time and possible redundant effort on information that might
nevertheless not be compatible with them at all. Where: Accessible
worldwide through the app or the website. French, English and Spanish
versions will be provided in order to offer greater access.
- Who? This quiz targets students that need guidance to a study abroad
location that best suits their needs and requirements.
- Why? The first thing that students may concern themselves with is why
they want to study abroad? Usually, students are either driven by a
passion to study and live in a certain place, for example, Paris. Or
they want to study a specific subject such as medicine or design.
Finding out what is most important to students before they make a
decision is the goal of this quiz. There are many questions that would
affect the results of the quiz and what best suit students’ needs. Other
factors into deciding to move abroad (potential quiz questions to ask):
Language: is the student going to be studying a language in a particular
country? If not, will they be comfortable in a country where the
language isn’t their native language? Time Table: Summer, Semester, or
Year Abroad? Type of Program: Does the school have the type of program
students are looking for? Is there a possibility they might have to go
through an independent program? Are they comfortable participating in a
program where they won’t know any other students? Which programs can
they afford? Major requirements: Will they be able to complete any major
requirements while abroad? Weather: What type of climate do students
want to live in? Living Situation: Do students want to live with a host
family or in a dorm? Local Life: Does the student want to study abroad
in a big city or small town? What kind of campus life or general
environment are they expecting? Food: Would the student like the food
common to that country?
3) Target
This app is addressed to all students who need to do an exchange abroad
or who want to study in another country. The concept will be extended to
a larger target concerning adults, retired people and any other person
who wants to go abroad: humanitarian mission, love trip, family trip,
etc....
4) Service Offered
Proposing an app and a website in order to help students who have or
want to go abroad but who don’t know where. This concept will help them
to target their real needs concerning: languages, climate, landscapes,
universities and courses, cost of the trip (scholarship, available money
or ability to borrow it), cultures and countries histories they want to
discover, religious aspect could be taken into account, foodstuffs. At
the end of the quiz taken, the student will see the algorithm proposing
him one or two country destination based on his needs and trip
expectations. We can also add a page allowing people to share about
experiences and discuss together in order to get a durable relation with
the users of our website and app.
